FAQ
BumperFeet® are self-adhesive polyurethane protective feet used for anti-slip grip, vibration and noise reduction, surface protection and stability. You may have also heard them referred to as bumper stops, rubber feet, adhesive pads, sticky feet or bumpons.
Below you'll find answers to some of the questions we are most frequently asked.
Application and use
What are bumper feet used for?
Bumper feet have so many uses it would be impossible to list them all. However they are commonly used on electronics, furniture, glass products, POS displays, speakers, coasters, chopping boards and many other items.
Are BumperFeet® made from rubber?
Although often referred to as rubber feet, BumperFeet are actually manufactured from polyurethane. This material is latex free and provides all round performance whilst being extremely durable.
What surfaces do bumper feet adhere to?
Bumper feet perform best on smooth, clean, dry, non-porous surfaces such as glass, metal, plastic, treated wood, granite, marble and glazed ceramic. Always ensure the surface is free from dust and grease.
Should I buy flat or domed bumper feet?
Flat bumper feet provide a larger contact area, meaning increased grip. These are ideal for applications such as glass table-tops or chopping boards. Domed bumper feet can offer a more subtle and discreet appearance with excellent cushioning. Perfect for electrical units and audio equipment.
Does the stated diameter refer to the top or the base of the bumper foot?
The stated diameter refers to the adhesive base of the bumper foot. In most applications, the base diameter is the most important measurement as it determines the contact area with the surface being protected.
For flat bumper feet, the top diameter will differ from the base diameter. Additional dimensions and technical information can be found in the product's technical drawing.
Will bumper feet prevent chairs or tables from marking my floor?
No. BumperFeet are not designed for use on chair or table legs and are generally not suitable for protecting floors from furniture that has regular movement.
Our bumper feet are designed to provide grip and prevent items from sliding. On furniture that is regularly moved, dragged or knocked, the resistance created by the bumper feet would cause the adhesive pad to become loose and fall off.
For tables and chairs, we recommend using felt pads or furniture glides that are specifically designed to protect floors and allow smooth movement.
Can bumper feet be removed or reused?
Bumper feet can usually be removed from a surface or item. However, depending on the application and how long they have been in place, some damage or residue may occur. Particular care should be taken when removing them from painted, varnished, veneered or other delicate surfaces, as the adhesive may affect the finish. BumperFeet are designed as a single-use product and should be disposed of responsibly after removal.
